Name Your Images Clearly Before Uploading Them Print

  • 1

This is something WordPress users often neglect to do, but is a great habit to get into.

If you have run a WordPress website for any period of time you will know that the amount of images that end up stored in your media library grows quickly and can end up in the hundreds if not thousands.

This can make searching for specific images time-consuming if all your images have titles like 237763-23-may-2021.jpg

The WordPress media library has a very handy search function to find images quickly, but that is no use if you have no idea of the name of the image file you are looking for. For example, your website's logo is something you may use on pages of your site as well as in your site's header if you have called that image 34546K.jpg you are not likely to remember that. If you had renamed the image before you uploaded it to logo.jpg it will be much easier to find.

To rename an image on windows or mac

Simply right-click the image and choose rename.
