FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is exactly what its name suggests, a method of transferring files to and from your site.
This is by far the quickest and easiest way to upload, download or backup folders, pages, and images to and from your site.
To use FTP, you will first need to install an FTP program to your computer or device. There are many available on the net, some free, some not.
For a nice free simpler FTP programme we recommend Core FTP
If you want really fast and are quite good at learning how to use new software, we recommend FileZilla from Firefox, this is the programme we use in the office. FileZilla is a stand-alone programme, it does not matter whether you use Firefox or not.
